The village and the county

Escalona,located at the confluence of the rivers Cinca and Bellos and is the gateway to the Añisclo Valley, one of four sectors that make up the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park.

The county of Sobrarbe ,is located in the central Pyrenees and covers a vast territory that is famous for its rich natural environment and landscape, surrounded by imposing peaks and valleys of great beauty, with a cultural heritage that has stood the test of time.

Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park

Established in 1918 as a National Park and declared a World Heritage Site in 1997 by UNESCO it has a wide variety of flora and fauna and unique geological landscape.

It is divided into four sectors:

  • ORDESA: Magnificent valley with abundant impressive waterfalls and trails that run through the valley, like the Path of Flowers and the Faja Pelay or Path of the Hunters.
  • PINETA: Spectacular glacial valley, presided over by the massif of Monte Perdido. Its U-shaped profile with meadows and plains surrounded by mountains and forests is outstanding.
  • AÑISCLO: The Bellos River Gorge opens flanked by the mountains Sestrales and Mondoto that surround the valley forming a canyon and at its top the Añisclo Pass.
  • ESCUAÍN: On a limestone spur stands the town of the same name, hanging over a gorge that can be seen from other viewpoints. One of the highlights is observing Lammergeiers.
